Overview
Banksia Prionotes Seeds 5 pcs Rare Australian Shrub with Orange Flowers for Sowing and Home Cultivation of Exotics

Banksia prionotes, commonly known as the pilose banksia or acorn banksia, is one of the most stunning species of Australian proteaceous flora. This small package contains 5 carefully selected seeds, allowing you to try cultivating this unique woody plant at home. The most distinctive feature of the plant is its large conical inflorescence with a creamy white upper half and a vivid orange lower part, from which delicate filamentous stamens emerge, forming a dense structure. Complementing the flowers are long, sharply serrated grey-green leaves with prominent jagged edges, giving the shrub a characteristic appearance even outside the flowering period. The species is sought after by collectors, enthusiasts of Australian plants, and growers who are not afraid of unconventional challenges.

When sowing at home, the most important factor is the correct substrate – an ideal mix of coarse sand, perlite, and acidic peat without the addition of common fertilisers, which resembles the natural coastal plains of Australia. Seeds are sown into slightly moist substrate, and the germination container is placed in a bright but not overheated location with a consistent temperature. Young plants grow more slowly and focus primarily on developing their root system in the first years, so it is crucial not to over-fertilise them and to carefully monitor watering to avoid waterlogging. In maturity, Banksia prionotes creates a decorative silhouette with a tendency for individual solitary use, making it popular in modern drought-resistant plantings and collections. This package of 5 seeds of pilose banksia represents a gateway to cultivating this unusual proteaceous woody plant under home conditions.
