Paper lanterns
A row of lanterns above the wedding table, fluffy pom poms at a children's party or red tasselled lanterns for Chinese New Year bring colour and a festive mood to the room. Round lanterns keep their shape thanks to the wire frame inside and come in diameters from 10 to 40 cm. Alongside plain colours, there are lanterns printed with flowers, poppies, little birds, bamboo, water lilies or Chinese calligraphy.
Fluffy tissue paper pom poms look like flowers in full bloom and, in sizes from 10 to 40 cm, are easy to arrange in clusters. Shaped lanterns are more playful, such as a set of three fringed jellyfish in shades of blue or 3D strawberries.
For Chinese New Year, red Chinese lanterns with gold details and tassels are a natural choice, including folding lanterns in packs of 10. Decorative lanterns with a perforated or cut-out floral pattern, measuring 15 to 20 cm, suit a wedding or birthday party.
When choosing paper lanterns, it pays to mix several sizes and hang them at different heights. To light them, use only LED lights, never candles or any other naked flame, and keep paper decorations away from rain and damp.
