Ichiban Kasuga, a low-ranking grunt from a low-ranking yakuza family in Tokyo, faces 18 years in prison after taking the fall for a crime he didn't commit. He does not lose faith, loyally serving his time and returning to society only to find that no one is waiting for him outside and that his clan has been destroyed by the man he respected the most.
Ichiban sets out to uncover the truth behind his family's betrayal and reclaim his life, drawing a group of societal outcasts to his side: Adachi, a disgraced police officer, Nanbu, a former homeless nurse, and Saeko, a hostess on a mission. Together, they are drawn into a conflict beneath the surface in Yokohama and must rise to become the heroes they never expected to be.
