Whiskerwood PC Steam CD Key
Release Date: 06/11/2025
Carve mountains, cross seas, and explore untamed new lands while building magnificent cities – the ingenuity of a humble mouse will fully manifest in Whiskerwood as you implement sophisticated automation systems for the efficient management of complex production chains while dealing with the oppressive demands of your feline overlords.
Tame Whiskerwood
As the dominance of cats spreads across the seas, the common mouse is sent to leave its home on perilous journeys. After arriving by ship at untouched islands rich in various resources, the mouse must quickly establish a colony to meet the immediate and ever-growing demands of its feline masters.
-
The cities of Whiskerwood are built on islands, and although they vary in size, space will always be limited – utilise rodent labour to build upwards and break through the skies, or dig deep underground and into the cliffs and mountains that stretch across the landscape to make the most of the available space. Verticality is key in Whiskerwood – it brings both great opportunities and challenges.
-
Although your ship arrives with an initial supply of resources and a starting group of mice, you must quickly build basic structures, essential services, and production capabilities to ensure further growth and prosperity. Establish logistics networks and healthcare facilities, ensure proper heating and maintenance of buildings, and send your mice to chop wood, mine in the mountains, tend to fields, and fish. Cats will demand what is theirs, and your own citizens will abandon the colony if their needs are not met daily – you must find the perfect balance between the needs of the mice and the demands of the cat.
-
Colonists have unique traits that affect their ability to efficiently complete tasks, and each belongs to one of several guilds, influencing their preferences, strengths, and weaknesses. Assign tasks to each of your mice accordingly and pay special attention to their personal characteristics – some will prefer life underground or in solitude, while others will overlook pollution and happily live in the most industrial parts of your city.
Complex Simulation
The life of a pioneer is not easy – far from home and without familiar comforts, you must learn to withstand the forces of nature and harness them to provide for your colony and satisfy the various needs and desires of your mouse inhabitants.
-
Shape the landscape through terraforming, creating mighty burrows for housing and storage in the mountains or diverting water deep inland from the coast to power your industry. Invest time in leveling vast territories in an effort to facilitate and reduce the costs of your construction projects or avoid the peaks and valleys of each newly procedurally generated island map.
-
The climate plays a key role in the success of your new home – a stormy day can dampen the natural enthusiasm of your mice, while a cold front can quickly destroy seasonal crops or otherwise threaten their lives. Build complex pipe networks for heating water and operating steam climate control systems, and burrow deep underground to protect your winter supplies.
-
Maximise agricultural production by paying close attention to the specific needs of each crop – a damp cave is optimal for mushrooms, but you will struggle to grow wheat out of reach of direct sunlight and fertile soil. Will you seek out potentially remote parts of your island where these optimal conditions naturally occur? Or will you utilise your engineering skills to adapt nature to your needs closer to home?
-
Mouselow's hierarchy of needs is in full effect as your citizens seek a fulfilling life in their new home. Ensure there is enough food and water, provide citizens with shelter to rest well, and organise maintenance services to care for the wear and tear that comes with the hustle and bustle of a growing city. Once you secure the basic needs, you face a choice – will you build grand statues of your fearsome feline rulers to motivate your mice and increase their productivity at the expense of their morale, or will you pursue the path of resistance by prioritising the happiness of your mice with magnificent parks and fountains? The needs of your mouse people are diverse, and their happiness must be delicately balanced against the demands of the clawed paw that looms overhead.
Complex Automations and Production Chains
A diligent mouse is not just a worker but also clever – harness the power of automation to uncover efficiency in every corner. Implement conveyor systems over long distances to transport goods across the colony faster than a mouse paw could manage, and monitor advanced technologies to evolve from a simple mouse-powered colony into a mouse metropolis powered by steam.
-
Whiskerwood boasts 40 different commodities that you can gather, manufacture, or trade for the benefit of your colony and the satisfaction of your rulers. Mine resources such as metal ore, wood, and wheat. Produce processed goods like ropes, coats, and ready meals. Strive for luxury items in the form of spices, teas, and furniture – as your colony progresses, so too must your economy expand to satisfy the growing desires of settled mouse folk.
-
Fulfil feline demands to gain favour and access to luxury goods that are difficult to acquire in your fledgling colony, or would you prefer to establish trade relations with other factions of mice and pirate lords?
-
Construct complex mazes of conveyor belts, ramps, lifts, and slides to facilitate the rapid movement of goods back and forth where they are gathered, processed, stored, and used. You have similar tools at your disposal to help accelerate the movement of both mice and materials – with a limited amount of time to work each day, efficiency is key.
-
Lay pipes that allow for the smooth flow of water and steam over long distances to satisfy basic needs across the island – pumps, water towers, radiators, and vents operate in limited territory and must be carefully considered to cover the entire colony.
-
Play in research laboratories and develop new technologies that will further expand your capabilities across the colony – new buildings, resources, and policies will bring a bright future to the mouse race.
A Game of Cat and Mouse
A mouse can only be pushed so far before it must defend itself – the demands of the cat grow more unreasonable by the day, and it cares not what suffering is endured to meet these demands. Whether it rains or shines, deliveries must be fulfilled to the cat's satisfaction, or they will have to call upon their minions to violently remind you of your duties. Will you forever serve this oppressive paw? Or will you ultimately defiantly raise your whiskers?
