The Outer Worlds is a new single-player sci-fi RPG from a first-person perspective developed by Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division.

You will become lost on a colonist ship heading to the farthest edge of the galaxy. Decades later, you awaken in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening the destruction of the Halcyon colony. As you explore the furthest reaches of the universe and encounter various factions all vying for power, the character you choose to embody will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. In the corporate equation of the colony, you are an unplanned variable.

 

Features:

  • Player-driven story RPG: In keeping with Obsidian's tradition, your approach to The Outer Worlds is entirely up to you. Your choices affect not only the development of the story but also the evolution of your character, companion stories, and game-ending scenarios.
  • You can have flaws, in a good way: A new concept in The Outer Worlds is the idea of flaws. A compelling hero emerges from the flaws they carry. Throughout your playthrough of The Outer Worlds, the game tracks your experiences to determine what you are not particularly good at. Do Raptidons keep attacking you? Gaining the flaw Raptophobia gives you a debuff when confronting these vile creatures, but immediately rewards you with an additional bonus for your character. This optional approach to gameplay helps you build the character you want while exploring Halcyon.
  • Lead your companions: During your journey through the furthest colony, you will meet many characters who will want to join your crew. These companions, armed with unique abilities, all have their own missions, motivations, and ideals. It is up to you to help them achieve their goals or turn them to your advantage.
  • Explore the corporate colony: Halcyon is a colony on the edge of the galaxy owned and operated by a corporate council. They control everything... except for the alien monsters left over from the terraforming of the colony's two planets, which did not go exactly as planned. Find your ship, assemble your crew, and explore settlements, space stations, and other interesting locations throughout Halcyon.
