The Outer Worlds is a new sci-fi RPG from a first-person perspective by Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division.

Lost in transit on a colonist ship heading to the farthest edge of the galaxy, you awaken decades later to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening the destruction of the Halcyon colony. As you explore the furthest reaches of the universe and encounter various factions all competing for power, the character you choose to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unexpected variable.

 

Features:

  • Player-driven story RPG: In keeping with Obsidian tradition, it is entirely up to you how you approach The Outer Worlds. Your choices affect not only how the story unfolds; but also the composition of your character, companion storylines, and game ending scenarios.
  • You can be flawed, in a good way: A new feature in The Outer Worlds is the idea of flaws. Compelling heroes are defined by the flaws they carry with them. Throughout your playthrough of The Outer Worlds, the game tracks your experiences to find what you are not particularly good at. Do you keep getting attacked by Raptidons? By embracing the flaw Raptiphobia, you will receive a debuff when confronted with the nasty creatures, but it will immediately reward you with an additional perk for your character. This optional approach to gameplay helps you build the character you want while exploring Halcyon.
  • Lead your companions: During your journey through the farthest colony, you will encounter a variety of characters who will want to join your crew. All of these companions, armed with unique abilities, have their own missions, motivations, and ideals. It is entirely up to you whether you help them achieve their goals or turn them to your own ends.
  • Explore the corporate colony: Halcyon is a colony on the edge of the galaxy, owned and operated by the company’s board of directors. They control everything... except for the alien monsters that remained when the terraforming of the colony’s two planets did not go exactly as planned. Find your ship, assemble your crew, and explore settlements, space stations, and other interesting locations throughout Halcyon.
