The Darkness II, inspired by the popular comic book series from Top Cow Productions, Inc., is an intense first-person shooter that offers a twisted and gripping story full of tragedy, modern crime drama, and supernatural horror.

Players find themselves on a brutal and personal journey as Jackie Estacado, head of a New York crime family and the wielder of an ancient and merciless force of chaos and destruction known as The Darkness.

It has been two years since Jackie Estacado used The Darkness to kill the men responsible for his girlfriend's murder.

Since then, he has been suppressing his supernatural power and cannot shake the memory of Jenny's death, and now The Darkness wants to break free.

A sudden and unprovoked attack by a mysterious organisation known as The Brotherhood heralds the beginning of total war and opens the door to the rediscovery of The Darkness, sending Jackie on a journey to hell and even worse things.
