The Valerian Islands, jewels of the Oberos Sea. The inhabitants of the islands, long a centre of maritime trade, have fought throughout history for dominance over its shores.
Eventually, a man arose who would end this conflict: Dorgalua Oberyth. But history would know him as the “Dynast-King.” King Dorgalua sought to quell the hatred among the islanders, and Valeria knew prosperity for half a century.
Yet, after the king's death, civil war erupted once more as three factions vied for control: the Bakram, who made up a large portion of Valeria's nobility; the Galgastani, whose people constituted the majority of the island's population; and the Walister, who were few in number.
The islands were soon divided between the Bakram and Galgastani, and an uneasy peace settled across the land. However, no one believed that the peace would last...
