Upon returning from a hunting expedition, you discover that your land is in ruins. You must rebuild your home while fending off hordes of monsters that attack your gates every night. If your city falls and the forces of darkness sweep across the land, you will awaken and start a new journey, carrying the rewards of previous attempts – you will have more heroes, previously uncovered unexplored lands, and every opportunity to advance while uncovering the mystery that has trapped you in an endless cycle of life and death.

 

HEROES AND MONSTERS

As night falls, hordes of monsters emerge from the darkness in an attempt to destroy everything you have built. They rush towards your gates and become increasingly furious as the night progresses. Powerful bosses will ruthlessly test your defences, and the only thing standing in their way is a collection of brave warriors, mighty creatures, and magical beings that you have hired to defend your territories.

  • In each run, you can choose a different powerful guardian to lead your defence, each having its strengths and weaknesses and opportunities for unique strategies and growth through equipment and experience. Will your ice priestess freeze the monsters in place so your archers and halflings can easily strike from afar, or will your knight charge into battle while a trebuchet hurls projectiles over his head?
  • Combine over 100 units that can be recruited and find the best – vampires guarding slingshot-wielding halflings, dinosaurs charging before genie-wizards, or archers supporting brave warriors? Seek them out in the world and using your hard-earned resources, recruit them for your cause and enhance their abilities, or wait for wandering warriors to appear, with each round offering different recruitment opportunities.

FUTURE KINGDOMS

Careful planning and strategic choices define each of your runs as you manage resources, soldiers, and the kingdom as a whole. With a limited number of building spots and more options than you will have space for, prepare for simple yet difficult decisions with lasting impacts.

  • The location and availability of resources change randomly with each run, and you will have to make critical decisions about what to prioritise – quick access to resources is essential at the beginning, but optimising production chains becomes key as time progresses.
  • Gradually unlock advanced methods of resource gathering to free up your workforce, but ensure you prioritise what you need for your planned strategy – will you bolster your defences by focusing on forestry and producing planks for building trebuchets and catapults, or will you prioritise gathering stone for building strong walls? Or perhaps you will strive for optimal gold production to afford upgrades for your most capable warriors more quickly?
  • As your heroes gather in the tavern to celebrate their hard-won victories each night, they gain strength from the meals you have prepared. Build fishing shacks, farms, mills, and more to feed your warriors and help them prepare for what lies beyond the walls!
