Summum Aeterna, a prequel to Aeterna Noctis, is a Roguelite game that combines world traversal mechanics unseen in this genre with a fast-paced combat system and a unique 2D art style.

As the King of Darkness, a powerful, mighty, and rugged warrior doomed to eternal life, you will explore uncharted territories filled with treasures, traps, hordes of enemies, and mighty bosses.

Explore wild lands, descend into the most dangerous depths of Aeterna, and battle your way to the end of each world... If you can!

  • Classic Roguelite Vibes
    The King of Darkness may be immortal... But he can still be defeated. You will start your adventure over and over again, that’s how these games work, right? Don’t panic, even when you are defeated, you will still retain some items and upgrades you acquired when you last lived... At least some of them.
    Summum Aeterna allows players to keep their progress, featuring a permanent character and a world upgrade system. No matter how many times you are defeated, your progress in the skill tree will be saved, as will the world upgrades you have unlocked, which will last forever.
     
  • Random Worlds
    Summum Aeterna features a unique world generator system that has never been seen in the genre, the Seed Mechanic... Each generates a unique world with different enemy behaviours, special events, and even larger map sizes, depending on the rarity and genes contained in the seeded seed.
    World modifiers, known as "seed genes", are positive and negative attributes contained in each seed you find. They will determine the dangers, encounters, and rewards that await you once you start playing.
    Seeds create worlds, and genes make each seed different from the last, just as the worlds generated from them!
     
  • Brutal Fast Combat and Frenzied Action
    The key to survival in Summum Aeterna is to kill every living being (or undead, depending on the enemy) you encounter. How to achieve this? Well, you play as a cursed monarch... Your weapons are made for a king!
    Show no mercy, use your swords, guns, and scythes to make them beg for their miserable lives before they do the same to you... At the start of each world, you will choose a starting weapon, but you can swap it for better ones, regardless of type... It’s up to you and your skills!
    Summum Aeterna also includes weapon customisation options through gems, precious stones that enhance weapon attributes and add great upgrades. Add new offensive and passive abilities and enhance your weapons’ combat performance by embedding gems.
     
  • Rarity is Virtue
    Every weapon, seed, and gem you find in Summum Aeterna has a rarity level: common, uncommon, rare, epic, legendary, mythical, and relic. The higher the rarity of an item, the more advantages it provides to the player.
    The rarity of a weapon determines the number of gems that can be embedded in it, among other things like damage level. Gems with higher rarity allow for greater enhancements to your tools of destruction. And when it comes to seeds… You guessed it, the less common it is, the greater the rewards and dangers on the other side of the portal!
     
  • Custom Adventure
    In Summum Aeterna, you can define your own adventure. Each world will provide you with plenty of rewards, including new seeds and currencies to upgrade your character’s skills, unlock new weapons, make those you already have even deadlier, and of course enhance the attributes of the world.
    You can unlock new special rooms, increase the rarity of found items, and change the world conditions using the world upgrade menu. You can also modify the rarity of your current seeds by mutating their genes or recycling those you don’t want to gain a seed with higher rarity...
    Everything is set up to make each adventure different from the last!
     
  • Beautiful Art Style
    Every asset, enemy, NPC, and animation has been hand-drawn using traditional 2D animation techniques... Everything you see in Summum Aeterna, from the smallest chest to the most colossal boss, is made possible by countless hours of hard drawing work. The visual aspect speaks for itself, the game looks amazing!
