Alterra left in a hurry after a mysterious incident. The region is littered with abandoned research stations. What happened to the scientists who lived and worked here? Records, items, and databanks scattered among the wreckage create a new picture of the incident. With limited resources, you must improvise to survive on your own.
Swim beneath the blue-lit, arched surfaces of the Twisty Bridges. Be mesmerised by the shimmering giant crystals of the Crystal Caverns. Climb snowy peaks and venture into the icy caves of the glacier basin. Navigate between erupting thermal vents and discover ancient alien artefacts. Below Zero introduces entirely new environments for you to survive, study, and explore.
Survive the harsh climate by building expansive bases, scavenging for resources, and crafting equipment. Set off across the snowy tundra on the Snowfox hoverbike. Navigate charming yet dangerous biomes in your modular Seatruck.
Something undiscovered lurks around every corner. Swim alongside the giant Titan Holefish, encounter the eerie Shadow Leviathan, and visit the adorable Pengwings. Keep your wits about you. Not all creatures in this strange world are friendly.
Jump in, the water is warm. Sub-zero temperatures in this Arctic region pose a new threat. New weather conditions cover above-ground bases. Make yourself a warm cold suit, sip hot coffee, and warm up by Thermal Lilies to fend off the chill.
What actually happened to your sister? Who were the aliens that came here before? Why were they on this planet? Can we find solace from sorrow in the truth? Below Zero expands the story of the Subnautica universe and dives deep into the mysteries presented in the original game.
Below Zero is created by Unknown Worlds, a small studio whose roots trace back to the Half-Life mod Natural Selection from 2002. It is the same studio that created the original Subnautica.
