In Gathering Storm , the second expansion of Civilization VI , the world around you is more alive than ever before.

Plan a path to victory for your people by developing new advanced technologies and engineering projects, and negotiating with the global community at the World Congress on critical issues.

The choices you make in the game will affect the global ecosystem and may influence the future of the entire planet. Natural disasters, such as floods, storms, and volcanoes, can ravage or destroy your improvements and areas – but they can also refresh and enrich lands after they pass.

In addition to these new systems, Civilization VI: Gathering Storm introduces eight new civilisations and nine new leaders. You can build seven new wonders of the world, as well as a variety of new units, districts, buildings, and improvements.

  • ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
    Volcanoes, storms (blizzards, sandstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes), climate change, floods, and droughts.
  • ENERGY AND RESOURCES
  • Strategic resources play an additional role in Gathering Storm. These resources are now consumed in power plants to generate electricity for your cities. Initially, you will power your most advanced buildings by burning carbon-based resources, such as coal and oil, but renewable energy sources are also unlocked as you progress to contemporary technologies. Your decisions about resource usage will directly affect global temperature and may cause glaciers to melt and sea levels to rise.
  • ENGINEERING PROJECTS
    Shape the world around your empire to overcome adverse land conditions using improvements such as canals, dams, tunnels, and railways. When settling cities, consider the risk of flooding for coastal lowlands, but keep in mind that in the late game, new technologies such as flood barriers can be used to protect these tiles.
  • WORLD CONGRESS
    Make your voice heard among other world leaders. Gain diplomatic favour through alliances, influencing city-states, competing in the World Games, and more. Use diplomatic favour to gain promises from other leaders, vote on resolutions, convene special sessions to address crises, and increase the weight of your votes in your quest for a new diplomatic victory.
  • 21ST CENTURY TECHNOLOGY AND CIVICS
    A new era has been added to the Technology and Civics trees. Combat new environmental influences with speculative ideas, such as relocating your population to coastal settlements and developing technologies for carbon emission recapture.
  • NEW LEADERS AND CIVIL SOCIETIES
    Introducing nine new leaders from eight new civilisations. Each brings unique bonuses and gameplay, as well as a total of nine unique units, four unique buildings, three unique improvements, two unique districts, and one unique governor.
  • NEW SCENARIOS
  • The Black Death: The Black Death ravaged Europe and Western Asia in the mid-14th century, killing a greater portion of the population than any other event in world history. The pandemic killed millions, destroyed economies, toppled political dynasties, and changed the face of the Western world. Your task is to lead your nation through the calamity: keep your population alive, maintain a strong economy, and sustain unwavering faith amidst a world of terror and despair.
  • War Machine: At the outset of the First World War, the German Imperial Army had a bold plan: invade neutral Belgium and then strike at the heart of France before they could mobilise to resist. If successful, German forces would capture Paris within a month and end their resistance forever. The French command prepared Plan 17 as a counter-offensive, a total assault designed to meet and halt the German offensive. When war was declared, both armies moved into action and initiated one of the most incredible and shocking military campaigns in world history. In this multiplayer scenario, players will take sides with one of these two great powers in the same abyss. As Germany, your objective is to conquer Paris. As France, your mission is to prevent its capture. The clock is ticking, and the enemy is on the move. Standby!
  • ADDITIONAL NEW CONTENT
    Seven new wonders of the world, seven natural wonders, 18 new units, 15 new improvements, 9 new buildings, 5 new districts, 2 new city sets, 9 new technologies, and 10 new civic doctrines have been added.

    The espionage system has been enhanced with new options, Cultural and Scientific victories have been updated, new historical moments have been added, and further improvements have been made to other existing systems.
