Grand Theft... Horse

Rustler is an action game with an open world viewed from above, paying homage to the good old style and gameplay of GTA while merging it with a historically inaccurate medieval setting. Play as The Guy, whose parents were apparently too lazy to give him a proper name. Experience feudal injustice, the Inquisition, witch hunts, and join The Grand Tournament. Meet valiant yet incredibly foolish knights. Complete a wide range of twisted missions and quests, or take your time with the plot and bring chaos to villages and towns. Choose to travel on foot or on a stolen horse. Fight with a sword or opt for a flashy crossbow. All of this is spiced up with an inappropriate sense of humour inspired by Monty Python.

  • Be a bold, bald criminal in a medieval sandbox
    Rustler's world is full of humour, anachronisms, and pop culture references. Have you ever been pulled over for parking in a "NO HORSE ZONE"? Want to engage in some cage fights in the Medieval Martial Arts Arena? Or perhaps a bit of shepherding? How about joining the Round-Earthers sect?
  • Cause havoc in old-school top-down combat
    Use swords, spears, dung, and crossbows. Want to be more effective? Try sacred hand grenades or… horses. Nothing is deadlier than hooves galloping your way. Or drifting carts.
  • Outsmart everyone and win half a kingdom
    As a poor peasant, you must be truly creative to win the Grand Tournament™. Forge strange alliances, cross your enemies, and dig up dinosaur skeletons in a light, easily understandable, and hard-to-empathetise-with story.
  • Hire bards to musically assist you in battle
    A bard can be your sweaty personal radio. Not only will they not abandon you even in the midst of the bloodiest conflicts, but they will also change the dynamics of the song depending on the action on screen. Plus, you can express your desire to change the tune by punching them in the face.
  • Plenty of horses around
    Shoot cows into the sky, dress up as a guard or even Death itself, set entire piles of grass on fire, draw decorative shapes with an oracle cart, survive a full guard onslaught after killing half the town... And that's just a few of them. Many crazy things you can do in Rustler.
