15 Survivors to master
Many survivors have escaped from a mysterious attack on your ship. With the return of the Chef, chop, slice, and serve justice, hold the front line, and shield your team as the Enforcer, or lay down a path of toxic sludge as everyone's favourite purple monster: Acrid! Forge new paths to explore with 15 unique survivors, each with new abilities to master. Two brand new Survivors debut in Risk of Rain Returns.
We also introduce The Drifter! This resourceful brawler collects scraps from defeated enemies and can create items that temporarily enhance teammates. They can also take them for themselves and unleash unbridled flames of widespread destruction. The Drifter is the perfect addition to any group of survivors. Their ability to support the team while revealing their own mark of damage will prove that they are more than just a stowaway.
Play solo or gather your crew
Dive into the surface solo or with your crew! Choose Survivors that complement each other’s strengths and weaknesses, or venture into the wild and pick the one with the biggest weapons (spoiler: it’s Loader). With online and couch co-op for up to four players, you are not alone in this battle.
Risk of Rain Returns features new and improved multiplayer services to ensure that the only thing standing between your crew's survival is the ever-growing hordes on Petrichor V.
Powerful pickups
Fight your way to the surface while uncovering precious cargo. These items serve as your redemption, helping you move faster, deal more damage, or jump a little higher. Others empower you in more dramatic ways – like the rare Ukulele, which electrifies your attacks with music.
If you crave explosions, hunt down the Brilliant Behemoth and watch as even your most ordinary attacks explode in a flurry of stunning blasts. The magic comes in unpredictable combinations that you create. Exploding chain lightning is just the start of your frenetic masterpiece!
The dangers of Petrichor V
The inhabitants of Petrichor V are as diverse as the many planets they once called home. As these monsters approached their doom on their own worlds, a mysterious force brought them to Petrichor V. The planet quickly grew into a menagerie of the most dangerous monsters in the galaxy, and they are not thrilled about intruders (aka YOU).
Rule-bending artifacts
Variety is the spice of destruction. Choose from over 10 artifacts, each of which mutates your run! Perhaps you would like to start with a random equipment item that changes every time it is used, or maybe you would enjoy experiencing an uncontrollable invasion of Imps every 10 minutes. Experiment with combinations of artifacts and discover exciting new ways to play.
