The story of Raji: An Ancient Epic begins at the onset of a new war between demons and gods. The demons, seeking revenge for their defeat in the last great war thousands of years ago, have risen against the gods who humiliated them, attacking the human realm and threatening extinction.
Humans believed their enemies had been completely defeated in the last great war thousands of years ago, falling into a false sense of security, forgetting the ways of alchemy and enjoying peace. Cities and fortresses that could not defend themselves fell, leaving the people at the mercy of the demons.
Amidst the chaos, as cities and fortresses fell and small children were abducted from their homes, the gods chose a young girl named Raji to become the sole protector of the human race.
