Project Zomboid is an open-world zombie-infested sandbox. It asks just one simple question – how will you die?

In the towns of Muldraugh and West Point, survivors must scavenge houses, build fortifications, and do everything they can to delay their inevitable death day by day. No help is coming – your continued survival depends on your own cunning, luck, and ability to escape the relentless horde.

Current Features:

  • Hardcore sandbox zombie survival game focused on realistic survival.
  • Online multiplayer survival with persistent player-run servers.
  • Local cooperative play for 4 players on split-screen.
  • Hundreds of zombies with swarm mechanics and sophisticated visual and auditory systems.
  • Full visibility and lighting system, sound, and real-time visibility mechanics. Hide in the shadows, be quiet, and turn off the lights at night, or at least cover the windows with sheets.
  • Extensive and expanding map (loosely based on a real location) for exploration, scavenging, and building a fortress. Check out the map project by Blindcoder: https://map.projectzomboid.com/
  • Vehicles with full physics and deep, realistic gameplay mechanics.
  • Use tools and items to craft weapons, barricade, and cook. You can even build zombie-proof fortresses by chopping down trees, cutting wood, and gathering supplies.
  • Deal with depression, boredom, hunger, thirst, and illnesses while trying to survive.
  • Day turns into night. Electricity flickers. Hordes move in. Winter approaches. Nature gradually begins to take control.
  • Farming, trapping, fishing, carpentry, cooking, trapping, character customisation, skills, and perks that develop based on what you do in the game.
  • Orderly zombies that do not run. (Unless you tell them to in the sandbox menu).
  • Lots of amazing atmospheric music tracks by the wunderkind Zach Beever.
  • Creative scenarios with challenges and an instant action mode “Last Stand” beyond the usual Sandbox and Survival modes.
  • Full, open, and powerful Lua modding support.
  • Gamepad support for Xbox Controller on Windows. [Other gamepads can be set up manually. Gamepad support is currently not available on Mac.]

  • The return of our PZ Stories mode, which also serves as the very first tutorial that actively tries to kill you at every turn. Kate and Baldspot are back!
  • Deep and varied encounters with NPC characters occurring in a persistent world, powered by a meta-narrative system that turns every playthrough into your own zombie survival movie with dynamic narrative gameplay.
  • Continuous expansion of the countryside and towns around Muldraugh and West Point.

  • More items, crafting recipes, weapons, and gameplay systems.
