You play as Low and Alone, best friends since they found each other in this lonely nightmare. Each has their own iconic item: a bow for Low and a wrench for Alone. By working together, they have become adept at sneaking through hidden corridors, lifting each other over massive obstacles, and watching each other's backs. Whether you play with a friend or an AI companion, you will rely on each other's iconic items to create opportunities and progress. The environment is full of clues and possibilities that imaginative children can exploit. Low's arrows can hit high targets, cut ropes, or knock down flying enemies, while Alone's wrench is perfect for smashing stunned foes, breaking through barriers, or manipulating the workings of massive machines.
No matter where you go, Nowhere is home to terrifying monsters. These inhabitants will not hesitate to come out of their way to capture any pesky little visitors that catch their attention. You may find yourself playing a terrifying game of hide and seek with the Monster Baby in the sandy ruins of the Necropolis, trying to avoid swarms of insatiable Candy Weevils in the unsettling Candy Factory, or dodging heavy feet while running along the rain-soaked promenade of a filthy fairground. You will need to be ready to flee, hide, or even defend yourself to stay in one piece.
Do not let yourself be too distracted by the bleak beauty of Nowhere. Dark mysteries await you as Low and Alone follow their mirrored path through the Spiral. As each new location becomes more dangerous and unsettling than the last, traumatic flashes from the past begin to emerge. Will Low and Alone finally escape this endless nightmare?
