Lunzo’s approach to product safety in Europe
In light of the entry into force of the EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), we remain committed to ensuring that products offered on our platform are safe.
Lunzo takes product safety very seriously. We believe that customers have the right to expect that purchased products are safe and authentic, and we therefore continuously invest in both people and technology to actively remove non-compliant products and dishonest sellers.
We require that all products offered on our platform comply with all applicable legal regulations. Lunzo applies a “compliance-by-design” approach, meaning that we develop our platform in a way that enables third parties – sellers – to fulfil their product safety obligations.
Lunzo has invested in the development of tools, including automated and artificial intelligence-driven processes, to detect and remove dangerous or non-compliant products from the platform. These technologies are supported by human resources, in particular a team of content moderators who manage and continuously improve our procedures. Where necessary, we are able to take swift and decisive action to protect customers, including removing non-compliant products or issuing product recalls.
Lunzo and the GPSR
We fully support the objectives of the GPSR to protect European consumers and believe that responsibility should be shared by businesses at all levels of the supply chain.
Lunzo seeks to guide and educate third parties – sellers on the platform – and, where possible, we provide them with useful information to help them navigate the requirements of the European Union when offering products for sale online.
In line with the obligations of our platform, we require sellers operating in our European stores to provide relevant product safety and compliance information, including safety warnings, labels, and high-quality images of products and their packaging. Sellers are also required to provide information about the manufacturer and/or the responsible person for the product.
The aim of this process is to prevent non-compliant products from being listed on the Lunzo platform in the first place, or to flag them for review by our content moderation team – either by blocking the listing or by requesting additional compliance-related information.
Lunzo continuously monitors products on its platform using a combination of automated and manual detection methods. We have a fully operational and effective “notice and takedown” procedure that allows us to receive, assess, and address all reports and notifications submitted by regulators, customers, sellers, or brands via our single point of contact. We encourage all stakeholders to report suspected non-compliant product listings to us through this single point of contact.
