Devil May Cry 4 immerses players in a gothic supernatural world where a new protagonist confronts a familiar hero. As the new lead character, Nero, players unleash incredible attacks and continuous combos using a unique new gameplay mechanic, his powerful arm “Devil Bringer”.

On the coast of a distant land lies the castle city of Fortuna. Here, a group known as the Order of the Sword practices a mysterious religion. They worship the demonic warrior Sparda, who fought as their god to protect humanity, and are devoted to exterminating all demons. Nero, a young knight of the Order, is tasked with finding Dante, the mysterious assassin who murdered the head of the Order of the Sword. At the same time, more demons begin to appear throughout the city. Nero soon uncovers the motives behind Dante's appearance and the truth about the intentions of the Order of the Sword.

- Vergil is a powerful yet technical character, allowing newcomers to play confidently while seasoned veterans can further hone their skills as they master his moves. Great for all skill levels!
- Lady, in her first playable appearance, specialises in strong long-range attacks. Using the rocket launcher Kalina Ann, grappling wire, and various amazing weapons, she can fight with grace and ease.
- Trish uses the demonic sword Sparda to perform a wide range of combos. Sparda can even attack and engage enemies autonomously while Trish fights in tandem!
