WELCOME TO EUROPA
Barotrauma is a 2D submarine simulator that focuses on cooperation and survival, inspired by games like FTL: Faster Than Light, Rimworld, Dwarf Fortress, and Space Station 13. It is a sci-fi game combining ragdoll physics, creatures from the ocean depths, teamwork, and existential dread.

MASTER THE DEPTHS in the not-too-distant future, humanity has fled to Jupiter's moon. Due to the irradiated icy surface, life can only be found in the depths of the ocean. Travel through the dark underwater world and discover what lies hidden in the depths of Europa. Beware: dangers in Barotrauma come unexpectedly.

HELP YOUR TEAMMATES SURVIVE, OR MAKE SURE NO ONE SURVIVES
You can enjoy Barotrauma in as many ways as there are ways to die in it. Collaborate with your crew to achieve objectives or – if you have a traitor on board – prepare for betrayal. Play with friends, strangers, or your worst enemies.

SCOUT, OPERATE, COMMUNICATE
Navigate the underwater world, complete missions for the last survivors of humanity, explore the ruins of an unknown civilization, and either flee from monsters or fight them. Control complex onboard systems and equipment like sonar, nuclear reactors, weapons, engines, and pumps. Communication is key!

EXPERIMENT, CREATE, BUILD
Master complex onboard systems, medical systems, and extensive crafting options. Use built-in editors to build your own submarines and monsters that will rival the standard ones. You can even open our source code and create your own mods. Features

  • The game is best enjoyed in multiplayer, with 2–16 players in a submarine. If necessary, you can replace players with computer bots. Single-player mode is also available and is still being developed.
  • 6 player classes with different skills and roles: captain, engineer, mechanic, medic, security technician, and assistant.
  • Procedurally generated maps and missions with many game modes that ensure high replayability.
  • Built-in editors for submarines, characters, and procedural animations. Share and discover mods directly on the Steam Workshop pages.
  • All data is available in XML format and the game's source code is available on GitHub.
