A series of ritualistic murders threatens Bright Falls, a small-town community surrounded by the wilderness of the Pacific Northwest. Saga Anderson, a perfect FBI agent with a reputation for solving impossible cases, arrives to investigate the murders. Anderson's case turns into a nightmare when she discovers pages of a horror story that begins to unfold around her.

Alan Wake, a lost writer trapped in a nightmare outside our world, writes a dark story in an attempt to shape the reality around him and escape from his prison. With the dark horror pursuing him, Wake struggles to maintain his sanity and defeat the devil in his own game.

Anderson and Wake are two heroes on two desperate journeys in two separate realities that are connected at their core in ways neither of them understands: they reflect each other, mirror each other, and influence the worlds around them.
