Dynasties of the East brings 8 unique maps and 6 stunning biomes that will enrich your experience in both single-player and multiplayer matches.

Four civilisations inspired by history

Dominate the battlefield and utilise new gameplay strategies with various civilisations, each bringing unique units and technologies inspired by renowned Eastern dynasties.

  • Golden Horde (Mongol variant) – Forget the complexities of nomadic life and exchange strength with a powerful centralised force led by a battle-hardened Khan and his elite guard. Build several Ovoo, amass vast armies, and make key strategic decisions from the Khan's seat of power, the Golden Tent. Gather your forces and prepare for a glorious charge into battle.
  • Macedonian Dynasty (Byzantine variant) – Lead the might of powerful warriors born abroad, known as Varangians, and plunge into battle as the Macedonian Dynasty. This variant civilisation, ruled at its peak by Emperor Basil II, brings unique resources and technologies focused on rapid growth and conquest. The Macedonian Dynasty, bolstered by a rich economy, produces and trades silver to strengthen its forces.
  • Sengoku Daimyo (Japanese variant) – Rewrite the fate of your clan in the fractured Sengoku era. Pledge allegiance to rival banners – Takeda, Oda or Hojo – each offering different bonuses, units, and technologies. Tailor your civilisation's progress by dedicating to the Daimyo estates, which will enhance faction strength and strategic depth.
  • Tughlaq Dynasty (Delhi Sultanate variant) – Take command of this great and long-reigning dynasty, built through shrewd political governance. Appoint powerful governors who bring their own mastery with a new governance system. The Tughlaq Dynasty introduces two new elephant units that differ in battlefield strategies: bolster your economy with the Labour Elephant and engage in new sieges with the Ballista Elephant.

The Crucible game, full of exciting changes in Age of Empires IV gameplay, relies on:

  • Your wonder is the key to victory. It must be protected at all costs. Earn medals by surviving as long as possible. Enemy attacks will escalate as the mission progresses.
  • Blessings are powerful upgrades and abilities that you can choose during the mission. You will regularly be offered the opportunity to select. Create a unique set of blessings to crush your enemies.
  • Each mission has two optional objectives that are randomly selected. The objectives are revealed at the start of the mission. Completing them will earn you valuable rewards.
  • Use Perk Points to unlock permanent upgrades between missions. The longer you survive, the more points you can earn. As your strength grows, take on greater challenges.
  • Interesting locations are smaller optional challenges hidden across the map. Find them and defeat their guardians to earn their rewards.

Discover new sights

Six new biomes breathe new life into single-player and multiplayer matches. From the dense foliage of the tropical rainforest and autumn beauty of the temperate autumn to the mythical shores of the Greek Islands and volcanic mystery of Black Sand Beach, each biome offers visual immersion and subtle tactical nuances that enhance your strategic planning.

These new maps offer something for everyone, from competitive layouts designed to support challenges to more casual and unconventional experiences. Strategise and strive for victory on maps like Craters ,  Nomadic Tarns and Ridges – or enjoy the unexpected with Cliffsanity , a map with several chokepoints and hidden treasure chests, and Michi, where enemies hide behind a forest wall. Prepare to seek new challenges with Dynasties of the East – the battle for supremacy begins right now.
